ARCHBISHOP TUTU’S 84th BIRTHDAY

ARCHBISHOP TUTU’S 84th BIRTHDAY: Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu celebrated a special family Eucharist at home on his birthday this morning. After threatening to burn the house down with a cake bearing 84 candles, the family headed to a local restaurant for breakfast. After breakfast, restaurant staff gathered around the Archbishop and Mrs Leah Tutu to sing, Happy Birthday. Tonight, the Archbishop and Mrs Tutu plan to attend the 5th Annual Desmond Tutu Peace at the University of the Western Cape. South Africa’s Public Protector, Advocate Thuli Madonsela will deliver the lecture. The Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu said her father was very moved by, and grateful for, the overwhelming number of birthday messages received from well-wishers around the country and the world.
