Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu was no longer receiving intravenous treatment but would remain under observation in hospital for another few days, his daughter, the Reverend Canon Mpho Tutu, said.
He was in good spirits when she visited the hospital on Sunday, and filled with gratitude for the care he was receiving and for the love and prayers of friends around the world, Reverend Canon Tutu said.
The Archbishop was admitted to a Cape Town hospital last Tuesday to treat a stubborn infection. The treatment was not related to the prostate cancer that the Archbishop had been managing for the past 18 years. The medication he was receiving for his prostate was effective and his PSA count was negligible, Reverend Canon Tutu said.
