OPERATION HYDRATE TO LAUNCH 22-DAY DRIVE IN CAPE TOWN TOMORROW (1 MARCH 2016)

The Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation invites media to the Cape Town launch of Operation Hydrate tomorrow (1 March at 11H00).

The Cape Town campaign will initially comprise a focussed 22-day water collection programme culminating on World Water Day, on 22 March.

Operation Hydrate is a civil society response to the prevailing drought in South Africa. While the campaign has begun by trucking water to those parts of the country needing it most, it will soon revert to the more sustainable model of sinking community boreholes.

Operation Hydrate has been endorsed by Archbishop Emeritus Desmond and Mrs Leah Tutu.

The launch will be attended by the leadership of Operation Hydrate, representatives of the Nelson Mandela Foundation and Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation, and key sponsors.

The venue for the launch is one of Operation Hydrate’s key Cape Town collection points:
