The Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation and the Embassy of Sweden, Pretoria invite you to a screening of the documentary; A Tree has Fallen – Remembering Archbishop Desmond Tutu, directed by former Africa correspondent Marika Griehsel.
This compelling documentary is an intimate look into the Arch’s remarkable life captured through conversations with some of the people closest to the world-renowned South African Peacemaker — as they remember his life, courage, and extraordinary personality. His fight for justice, peace and democracy made him one of the most powerful voices during the struggle against the racist minority regime in South Africa.
Desmond Tutu’s daughter Mpho Tutu van Furth, his personal medical doctor Ingrid le Roux, his righthand man and biographer John Allen open their “memory boxes” and tell us about the man and his legacy. Cartoonist Johnathan “Zapiro” Shapiro, human rights activist Khanyisile Motsa, and musician Concord Nkabinde who also scored the documentary, all share their perspectives on devoting their lives to speaking truth to power, inspired by the Arch.
Join us for an informative, inspiring, and thought-provoking evening, with a special performance by Concord Nkabinde.
