Reflecting on the Launch of Dismantling Green Colonialism

On September 25, 2024, we were privileged to host the thought-provoking launch of Dismantling Green Colonialism: Energy and Climate Justice in the Arab Region, edited by Hamza Hamouchene and Katie Sandwell.

The evening was a vibrant exchange of ideas, featuring Hamza Hamouchene and Razaz Bashier, a contributing author, in an engaging conversation about the book’s themes and the broader context of Sudan’s struggle for justice and equity. Their insights shed light on the intersection of energy, climate justice, and the pressing need for solidarity within the Arab region and beyond.

Held at the Desmond and Leah Tutu House in Cape Town, attendees had the opportunity to purchase copies of the book, with proceeds dedicated to the Ghassan Abu Sittah Children’s Fund in support of the children of Gaza.

We extend heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us for this meaningful discussion, which highlighted the importance of collective action in addressing environmental and social injustices.
