Digital Content Specialist Vacancy (Cape Town)

The Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation (DLTLF) is looking for a passionate and collaborative individual to join our Cape Town-based organisation in support of our communications priorities.

About the job

The Digital Content Specialist will be responsible for the production and management of content for DLTLF’s digital platforms, including the organisation’s website, social media pages, newsletters, and digital asset library. The Digital Content Specialist will work in close collaboration with the Advocacy and Communications manager to execute the DLTLF’s communications strategy with an emphasis on driving audience engagement.

This role is perfect for someone who loves conceptualising and executing digital content, and is also passionate about environmental, racial, and social justice.

*Develop and execute original content across digital channels and for the website
*Develop and execute social media plans to support advocacy and programmatic work
*Create promotional materials in support of DLTLF’s programmatic outputs
*Write and edit content in appropriate tone and style
*Track key metrics and performance of digital engagement
*Collaborate with DLTLF program leads to source content
*Support Advocacy and Communications manager in implementing the organisation’s communications strategy
*Maintain a digital content calendar
*Manage relevant service providers (e.g., graphic designers, website developer, videographers)
*Manage website, production of monthly newsletter and assistance in producing annual report
*Perform other communications duties as assigned
*Work with the Foundation’s archival material to create interesting content for audience engagement

Qualifications and Skills
*Have a demonstrated interest or background in social justice issues
*Experience with social media management
*Comfortable working with Canva, Mailchimp and WordPress
*Experience developing messaging and tone for audience development
*Experience with project management systems
*Understanding of content as a tool for advocacy, audience reach and education
*Have an eye for design, including the sourcing of photos where necessary
*Strong writing, editing, and research skills

– 2-4 years’ experience in digital content development
– Bachelor’s degree, diploma or certificate in digital marketing, journalism, communications, or related field
